Here I am!

Hello...oh... oh... oh!! Anybody out there...ere... ere... ere??

(K. that was my attempt to blog an echo. I'm in a silly mood today!)

I'm sorry dear blog that I've neglected you, and I'm sorry dear readers (if there are any of you left out there!) that I haven't been around so much lately. The fall season got a little out of control, working with so many lovely kiddos and families, and there just wasn't enough time! My blog had to be the first thing to be put on the back-burner.

I actually didn't think anyone would really notice... until I popped into Joelle's one day over the holidays and had the pleasure of meeting a fellow photographer and his wife who totally called me out. He was so kind and complimentary and I was flattered that he'd spent so much time on my blog - and shocked when he said "but you haven't posted anything since November 23rd!" (Alright Mr. Photog from Joelle's, I'm calling YOU out now! Blog stalking is all fine and dandy, but please oh please, don't be afraid to say hello or leave a comment every once in a while. It was so nice to meet you! ;)

And now that we've established that I've been neglectful, here I am to proclaim my working New Year's resolution: I WILL BLOG AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK. I'm going to try to do even better than that, but I think resolutions are best when "realistic" goals are set. (I think I can, I think I can...)

Wedding Day

This was the event of the season! If you're reading this and had the distinct privilege of being in attendance, perhaps you could comment below with your praise for A & J's wedding day... I know that many of Joelle's Clients who would have loved to hop in my camera bag, just to see what A was wearing, how happy she was, how loved she is.... so, here's a little inside scoop!

She looked nothing less than marvelous - everything you'd dream a bride might be. (That's a Jenn Fenton one-of-a-kind on her wrist.)

beauty & promise [ amy montgomery :: photographer ]

It was Sunday night and the evening was cool. We opted for a patio table at Spencer's Restaurant and the Maitre D' offered us blankets and turned on outdoor heaters. The atmosphere was perfect. We enjoyed brie, figs and fresh berries. It wasn't long until the clouds turned grey and a sheet of rain hit the patio beside us. [The brilliant architecture of the restaurant's patio roofline allowed us to stay dry without having to move inside.] We watched with amazement and witnessed the strength in nature; celebrating each other and everything that connects us, in business, in friendship and in life. And then, perhaps the most nourishing part of the evening... a rainbow arrived in the sky so distinct and poignant, full of beauty and promise... felt so deeply, as if it were created just for us.

Thanks J & J for the great company! And for indulging my desperate need to run and get my camera!

love and happiness

I've taken a step away from shooting weddings these past few years, so that I can focus on kids - especially my own. But every once in a while, a special wedding seems to sneak through the "I don't shoot weddings anymore" facade. This was one of them. So honoured to be a part of your day B & A. May your lives together be built on faith and love [and a really good plot of farmland :]

Summer Sessions are flying! [ amy montgomery :: children's photographer ]

With the temperature soaring over 20 degrees last week, it's starting to feel like summer around here! I’m looking forward to getting outside with my kiddos; throwing rocks in the lake, chasing bubbles, picnics in the backyard + at the beach. I’m also excited about the sessions already booked. [ Even the 7:00am Saturday mornings! What was I thinking when I revealed that the best light for portraits is within the first + last few hours of the day? ]

Have you been thinking about reserving a summer session? Please don’t wait too long to make arrangements. June is nearly booked. July + August are going fast! To request availability, please email me with any preference for a specific day of week and time. I expect the summer schedule to be nearly filled by June - I'll start a waiting list once we're all booked up.

Oakville Interior Design Consulting - Sarah Walker Style + Design

Something a little different for me: Photographing BEAUTIFUL spaces. Working with Sarah Walker to capture portfolio imagery for her online presence was inspiring on so many levels. Kind of hard to focus on getting the shot when you're so distracted by all the eye candy! the easter gift [ Amy Montgomery :: photographer ]

My five-year-old came running with a spring bouquet in hand. So proud to be the representative, as if he knew how much I needed the gift... how it would affirm his love by giving it. As his Daddy stood back watching the encounter, I could see the satisfaction. He knew that the delivery was as filled with meaning as the gift itself... that it said everything he wanted to say and that it would move me.

Just thinking about that today on Easter. Seems fitting.

Inside, Outside, Upside Down.

Receiving weekly deliveries of prints, albums & canvases, I do my fair share of cardboard recycling. The boxes are often flat or kind of on the small side, so they tend to hit the curb pretty quickly. Last week, we finally got some boxes we could PLAY WITH! Had such a great time with the kids, colouring the walls, cutting out windows, and enjoying watching them being playmates for each other. (Since this first day, they've been "souped-up" with mailbox slots, bedding and addresses :)

Best Burlington Photographer Category - Amy Montgomery Photography won Platinum!

THANK YOU AGAIN! I was flattered by the nomination for Best Burlington Photographer in the Burlington Post Reader's Choice awards ... now I'm really knocked over by the support of your voting! It was such a treat to see "Amy Montgomery" on that list along with several of Burlington's best local photographers. Joelle surprised me with this advertisement, which ran in the Reader's Choice award edition of the Burlington Post last week. She's so humble, she forgot to mention in the ad that her store took the Diamond award! (If you've been around Burlington for long at all, you know that Joelle's has a reputation for carrying fabulous clothing and accessories.) Congratulations to Joelle's and Jeff's Guy Shop! The readers confirmed what I already knew!
